Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFTS)
The three standardized field sobriety tests are designed to be barometers for the patrol officer to judge whether or not a suspected DUI driver may be at or above a 0.08 BAC. The SFSTs help the officer develop probable cause as to whether the driver is DUI.

Evidentiary Breath Test
Las Vegas police use the Intoxilyzer 5000EN for evidentiary breath analysis of suspected DUI / DWI drivers. The machine uses infrared light to scan the breath for alcohol (ethanol) and some organic interferents through four filters.
